A low modernist house under a pink evening sky, its roof laid with dark blue solar panels, a flat green lawn in front and a sprinkler throwing a dotted arc of water across it. Palm trees, and a sun like a coin. Hockney painted Los Angeles lawns and sprinklers in the sixties as the height of luxury. The luxury has moved up to the roof. The sprinkler has not noticed.
