Snow falls in big round flakes, the kind Hokusai carved, over a row of cars asleep at their chargers, each one tethered by its cable. A figure in a puffer jacket walks past under an umbrella, the only thing in the picture that is moving. On the hill a radio tower stands where a temple would be. Hokusai liked weather best when it made people hurry. The cars are in no hurry at all.

Heavy stylised snow falling over a row of electric cars at chargers, a figure in a puffer jacket with an umbrella, a distant radio tower. Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock print, flat areas of Prussian blue, indigo, ochre and pale cream, bold outlined forms, stylised curling waves and clouds, a small distant landmark anchoring the composition, dramatic foreground movement, visible wood grain and slight registration offset, rice paper texture. Museum photograph of the print on paper, flat even lighting, no frame, no text, no wall, no floor, cropped to the edge of the sheet.
