Sunday morning in a glass office, and the sun lays a hard diagonal across the orange wall and the floor. One woman works at a long table by the window, back straight, laptop open, while every other chair is empty. A plant keeps her company. Hopper loved rooms like this, where the light arrives with more purpose than the people. She came in to get ahead. The sun got here first.
