A rooftop pool at dusk, so full it seems to run off the edge of the building into the city, and every glass tower is broken into dabs on its surface. One swimmer, just a head, cuts through the reflection. Monet spent the last thirty years of his life painting one pond. Give him this one and he would stay, although he would ask them to turn the music off.

A rooftop swimming pool at dusk reflecting glass towers and a lavender sky, one swimmer, ripples broken into dabs of colour. French Impressionist oil painting, broken dabs of pure colour, no black, forms suggested by shimmering light rather than line, lavender shadows, pinks and greens vibrating together, reflections on water, plein-air freshness, thick short brushstrokes, canvas weave visible at the edges. Museum photograph of the oil painting, soft even gallery lighting, no frame, no text, no wall, no floor, cropped to the canvas edge.
Written to the house rules. The painter's name does not appear.
