A white charging cable, coiled, plug at one end and connector at the other, printed four times over on yellow, pink and turquoise with the crude black outline of a cheap screen. It is the most important object in the house and it is always in another room. Warhol would have printed it in gold and sold it for a fortune. He would have lost it by Tuesday.
The brief
A single white charging cable coiled on a bright yellow ground, printed with crude black screen outline, repeated twice side by side. Pop art silkscreen on canvas, a photographic image reduced to high-contrast flat blocks of garish colour, repeated in a grid with slight misregistration between prints, acid pink, yellow, turquoise and black, deadpan commercial flatness, screen texture and ink bleed. Museum photograph of the silkscreen canvases, flat even lighting, no frame, no text, no wall, no floor, cropped to the canvas edge.
Written to the house rules. The painter's name does not appear.
