The same young face nine times over, in pink, yellow and turquoise, with black halftone for the shadows and a small ring light caught in each eye. Warhol made his *Marilyns* from a single publicity still and repeated it until the woman disappeared into the picture. This face was already a picture when it was taken. Nine is modest. The original was posted four hundred times.
The brief
A stylised young face with a ring-light reflection in each eye, repeated nine times in flat pink, yellow and turquoise with black screen halftone. Pop art silkscreen on canvas, a photographic image reduced to high-contrast flat blocks of garish colour, repeated in a grid with slight misregistration between prints, acid pink, yellow, turquoise and black, deadpan commercial flatness, screen texture and ink bleed. Museum photograph of the silkscreen canvases, flat even lighting, no frame, no text, no wall, no floor, cropped to the canvas edge.
Written to the house rules. The painter's name does not appear.
